Polling Stations Open Across Tipperary 26/2/2016 Polling stations have opened across County Tipperary for voting in General Election 2016.
For the first time since the 1940s, Tipperary is one constituency, with five seats up for grabs. Voting continues until 10 o'clock tonight. The 32nd Dáil will have one less TD from the Premier County as the new Tipperary constituency has just 5 seats. Previously the Tipperary North and Tipperary South constituencies each elected 3 TDs. The changes put forward by the Boundary Commission also sees the annexing of the Lower Ormond area north of Nenagh into the new 3-seat Offaly constituency while there have also been changes at the other end of the county with a small part of the old Tipperary South now farmed off to Waterford. Dozens of couples intending to hold their wedding receptions at the Aherlow House Hotel this year have been left in limbo.
The hotel closed this week after the operators failed to reach agreement with a receiver from Grant Thornton. However in a statement to Tipp FM today the receiver says they are in advanced discussions with potential operators and purchasers with a view to reopening the hotel as soon as possible. It's understood over 40 weddings had been booked at the Aherlow House Hotel for the coming year with some couples having paid significant deposits. Read More |
